San Diego Blood Bank and Precision Medicine

Dr. David Wellis is the Chief Executive Officer of the San Diego Blood Bank.  He was trained in cell biology and has over 25 years of experience in the life sciences. Dr. Wellis has held leadership roles in a broad range of biotechnology companies that focus on biomedical research, diagnostic instrumentation, and genomics.   

Dr. Wellis received his B.S. from UC Irvine and both a M.S. and Ph.D. from Emory University. He undertook postdoctoral research at Tufts University and UC Berkeley, as well as business training at Santa Clara University and UC Berkeley.  He is a board or committee member for several national blood bank organizations and local biotechnology companies and is a Board Trustee for the Francis Parker School.
