Pat Caughey presented on his firm's design for Freedom Park on Navy Pier near the USS Midway Museum
The USS Midway Museum has been a fixture alongside Navy Pier since it opened in 2004. To mitigate loss of view, the California Coastal Commission mandated that a park be constructed. Freedom Park recently received unanimous approval of a development permit from the CCC. Pat Caughey’s firm landscape architecture firm Wimmer Yamada and Caughey is designing Freedom Park, which will connect with park areas adjacent to the Midway. The Park will include areas along the promenade and extend into the G Street Mall to the Bob Hope Memorial. Upon completion, Freedom Park will be the largest veterans’ park on the West Coast.
