Assistant District Governor (and District 5340 Governor Nominee Designate) Luis Carranza encourages all the Area 4 presidents to visit other clubs. On March 2, many of the Area 4 presidents attended our meeting, and on March 8, Sharon Schendel and Del Mar Solana Beach Rotary Club president Susan Hennenfent took the trolley downtown to repay the favor for San Diego Downtown Evening Rotary Club. At just over 4 years-old, this club is the newest in District 5340. In 2022 they earned the award for best small club in the district. At the meeting, Rodulfo Figueroa of the Tijuana Boys & Girls Club presented on the challenges they face after the government of Mexico stopped all funding to non-profit organizations. With that decision, BGC Tijuana lost one-third of its funding and must serve fewer children. They expressed their gratitude to our club for our support of BGC Tijuana.
