Del Mar Rotary is pleased to have Kevin Fitzpatrick, DDS, MS as its newest Blue Badge member. Kevin doesn’t have far to travel to each week’s meeting, as his dental practice is only a few minutes’ walk from St. Peter’s. A native Michigander, Kevin graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry before joining the U.S. Navy and providing dental services at Naval stations around the world, including Somalia and Keflavík, Iceland. That latter stint made him long for warmer climates, so he and his wife Lisa, along with their son and twin girls now call the Del Mar area home.  Kevin noted that Lisa Googled Del Mar Rotary and made an appointment for him to attend a meeting.  Former District Governor Marty Peters was waiting to greet him and he so enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere that he started the membership process.

Meanwhile, we bid fond farewell to our honorary member, Daisy, who got her “Blue Badge” in November 2015 and then frequently attended our Rotary meetings as part of her socialization activities. Del Mar Rotarian Donna Fipps is a puppy raiser for Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) and Daisy is the fourth CCI puppy she’s raised. Daisy now graduates to the CCI Southwest Regional Training Center where she’ll undergo rigorous training.  If selected to be a Canine Companion, she’ll be paired with a differently-abled individual to assist with their daily tasks.  We wish Daisy all success and look forward to meeting Donna’s next puppy in July!
